Between Canet and Argelès, Saint-Cyprien is almost equally close to Vingrau, Prades and Villefranche-de-Conflent: 50, 55 and 60 minutes. It all comes down to what you feel like doing.
Times are from central Saint-Cyprien. The Vingrau cliffs are the closest; the Thuès hot-water canyon and the Casteil cliffs, in the Têt valley, bring up the rear at 1 h 15.
Approximate driving times from the centre of Saint-Cyprien, without traffic.
From Saint-Cyprien, the differences in driving time are small: between 50 and 75 minutes for all our routes. So it's the group that decides: the age of the youngest, everyone's experience and whether you want to jump matter more than the kilometres.
With children from age 7, the Castellane, 1 h 05 away, is the most accessible canyon. The Llech, 55 minutes away, is for over-14s and recommended for people who have done canyoning before. In between, the Thuès hot-water canyon is open from age 10, all year round, 1 h 15 away.
For a group mixing young and old, the Souterrata via ferrata welcomes children from age 8 and the En Gorner discovery trip from age 7, from the same car park in Villefranche-de-Conflent, an hour's drive away.
7 for the Castellane and the En Gorner discovery trip, 8 for the Souterrata, 10 for the hot-water canyon, 14 for the Llech.
The Souterrata and the En Gorner discovery trip start from the same car park in Villefranche-de-Conflent: one round trip from Saint-Cyprien for two activities.
Book at least 48 hours before the outing: the guide prepares equipment for everyone's height and weight.
On site, most trips fit into half a day. Allow the whole day for Exploration Canalettes, Aquatique En Gorner, Merveilles En Gorner and Grande Voie de Vingrau.
The Castellane, 1 h 05 away, for beginners from age 7; the Llech, 55 minutes away, if you've done canyoning before, from age 14. Both run from June to September; the Thuès hot-water canyon, 1 h 15 away, is open all year, from age 10.
Yes, by choosing a route suited to the youngest: the Castellane for canyoning, the Souterrata for via ferrata or the En Gorner discovery trip underground. No jump is ever compulsory in canyoning.
At the start of each route, making your own way there: the Prades swimming pool car park for the Castellane, Prades for the Llech. Details are in the programme on each route's page.
From October to May, the Thuès hot-water canyon, caving and via ferrata stay open; climbing at Tautavel and Vingrau starts again in March.
